Boys Soccer vs Somerville Ends in Draw

It’s always a battle when the Somerville and Medford boys soccer teams get together. The last time the teams met Medford edged Somerville, 3-2. This time the Highlanders were the visitors and handed the Mustangs their second tie of the season on Monday with a final score of 2-2. Senior captain David Pires and junior Manny Gonzalez scored Medford’s two goals.

The pictures captured by Freshman Coach Mike Cugno really tell the story of the physical, closely-fought game that usually results when these two teams meet.

The 6-1-2 Mustangs host Malden Catholic on Wednesday under the lights at 6:30PM. Medford is undefeated in the Greater Boston League with a 3-0-2 record, with ties against Somerville and Cambridge.
