New applicants and new projects sought to serve audiences of all ages

The Medford Arts Council is accepting LCC and PASS grant applications for the 2011 funding cycle. Medford’s 2011 allocation from the Massachusetts Cultural Council is $15,440.

The Arts Council funds individuals, community groups, schools, and non-profit organizations for projects that bring music, dance, theater, film/video, visual arts, literature, history, cultural heritage and more to audiences of all ages in Medford.

“Last year we funded over 30 projects in our community, including the second annual Community Read, an array of school field trips and enrichment programs, performances at the library and Wright’s Pond, an oral history project, and the ambitious, exciting Dance in the Fells, which is coming up on October 9th,” said Council co-chair Maria Daniels. “Each year we actively seek new applications from people in Medford who have good ideas about arts and cultural programming. We encourage anyone who’s interested to contact us to learn more.”

Visit the Council’s Web site at www.medfordartscouncil.org for application forms for both types of grants, along with the 2011 scoresheet demonstrating how the Council rates applicants. The site also publishes full lists of grant recipients for the past several years.

Applications must be postmarked by Friday, October 15, 2010.
