Sen. Kerry Announces Science Funding for State

Tufts to Receive Share of $85 Million in National Science Foundation Awards

Senator John Kerry announced that 178 additional Massachusetts universities and organizations will receive a total of $85,601,927 in National Science Foundation (NSF) awards. The funding was secured through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

“This investment means more jobs and groundbreaking scientific research in Massachusetts. This is a shot in the arm for the cutting edge work being done by our state’s universities and research organizations,” said Senator John Kerry.

The NSF funds research and education across the fields of science and engineering by providing grants and cooperative agreements to more than 2,000 colleges, universities, K-12 school systems, businesses, informal science organizations and other research organizations throughout the nation.

More than $218 million in National Science Foundation grants have been awarded to Massachusetts organizations and schools since March.
