The two week-plus Medford Invitational Tournament is wrapping up this weekend, and for the fourth year in a row, the all-star baseball players will take a break from the action for a special game on Saturday, August 28.

MIT athletes and volunteers will help children with physical and mental disabilities play some ball in a Challenger Division game planned for Saturday afternoon at 12:30PM.

There is no score, no strike count, and no outs. Everyone has a chance at bat, to run the bases, and to come home. Both athletes and volunteers alike have a great time and have come together for the sole purpose of having fun while enjoying America’s favorite pastime.

The tournament is also wrapping up its competition soon. Four teams competed in the playoffs on Thursday, August 26- Medford, Newton, Wakefield, and Tewksbury. Newton defeated Medford and Tewksbury got the win over Wakefield, so the teams will play each other in the championship game at 7:00PM on Friday, August 27.

Medford topped the American League with a 5-0 record, while Wakefield finished in second place at 4-1. Tewksbury and Newton topped the National League with 4-1 records.

All games are taking place at Columbus Park.
