Reds Best Chiefs in ICL Baseball Semis

Despite posting a very solid 19-9 record during the regular season, the Andre Chiefs fell in the semi-final round of playoffs to the Watertown Reds.

In Game One, played over two days after being suspended due to a scoreless draw, the Reds broke the game open in the top of the eleventh inning on hits from Josh Chasse, Bryan Evans and Sam Sager to beat the Chiefs 1-0 in one of the longest ICL playoff games ever played.

In Game Two, Brian Casey, who came on in the 10th inning to get the win in Game One, went the distance and picked up his second win of the night in the 5-2 victory. Casey went the distance and allowed five hits while striking out seven. Steve Busby and Sean Callahan-Montague each had two RBI’s for the Reds. Dylan Ellis got the loss. Tim Dempsey, Mike Andre and Mike Gedman had doubles for the Chiefs.

Both games were played at Tufts University’s Huskins Field.

The Chiefs faced a do or die date with the Reds at Victory Field in Game Three on Friday but unfortunately were not able to pull out the victory, falling to the Reds by just one run, 5-4.

The defending ICL champion Lexington Blue Sox now advance to the league’s best of five Championship Series against the Watertown Reds starting on Monday in Lexington at 7:45PM. The Reds got to the Championship Round by sweeping both the Reading Bulldogs 2-0 in the First Round and the Andre Chiefs in 3-0 in the Semi-Finals.
