Fall Dog Show to Raise Funds for Medford Dog Park

Medford’s pooches are being called upon to strut their stuff this fall.

“Medford’s Top Dogs Show,” organized by the Jingle Bell Festival Committee, will include dog fashion show, best dog contest, look-alike contest, Medford Police Canine exhibitions, agility exhibition, vendors, refreshments, and much more.

The show is taking place on Saturday, September 18, from 10:00am-5:00pm at LoConte Rink on Locust Street, and is sponsored by AvoDerm Natural dog food.

Money raised from the show will benefit the Buddy Coholan Community Family Center and will also be used for the creation of Medford’s first dog park.

In an interview last February, Lonergan said the Committee, along with Medford Animal Control Officer Patrick Hogan and veterinarian Dr. Christina MacKenzie, are “the moving force” behind the creation of a Medford dog park.

Longergan said a spot for the park has not been finalized yet but they are considering the corner of Winthrop Street and Mystic Valley Parkway, near the Condon Shell.

“It would be the perfect place because it will not affect a neighborhood and it has parking,” said Lonergan.

Lonergan said Hogan is also looking into other locations, and the Committee is open to suggestions.

Tickets for the fall dog show are $10 for adults and $5 for kids.
