Chiefs Win 5th Straight

Jared FreniThe first place Andre Chiefs won their fifth straight Intercity League game on Thursday night in Woburn 12-4 to raise their record to 6-1 on the young season.

Former UMass–Amherst Captain Jared Freni went five innings to get the win. UMass teammate Rob Machado and Tufts University righty Pat O’Donnell of Worcester each worked a scoreless frame.

The Chiefs were led offensively by 2009 New England College D-2 Player of the Year Mike Baillargeon (Assumption/Worcester, MA) who hit a three run homer, Wheaton College’s Hal Landers of Salem, NH, who went three for four, and former Merrimack College co-captain Mike Andre of Medford, who had two RBI’s.

On Wednesday the Chiefs topped the Americans 7-4 at Playstead Park.

The Chiefs conclude their three game road trip with a 7:00PM start in Arlington on Friday. They begin a four game in four night homestand on Monday when they host the Testa Corp. Bombers at Tufts University’s Huskins Field at 6:00PM.
