Chiefs Raise Record to 3-1 with 6-2 Win on Friday at Tufts University

Former UMass-Amherst righty Mike DiCato threw six innings of three hit baseball to lead the Andre Chiefs to a 6-2 win over the Medford Americans at Tufts University in Intercity League action on Friday evening.

DiCato, a former all-American at Malden Catholic in 2005, struck out five while picking up his first win of the season.

Medford rookie southpaw Kevin Gilchrist of Tufts University made his ICL debut in the seventh inning when he came on in relief of DiCato and retired the only two batters he faced.
Shortstop Brendan Pyburn (Peabody,MA/Merrimack College) led the Chiefs’ offense, going three for four including three RBI’s.

With the win the Chiefs raise their record to 3-1 on the season heading into a Sunday afternoon road game against the Reading Bulldogs at Reading’s Morton Field at 1:30PM. Former Brandeis University star Tim Dunphy, who pitched professionally for the Namur Angels, will get the start for the Chiefs.
