The Mustang girls lacrosse team, reigning Greater Boston League champions, picked up their second GBL win of the season with a decisive 13-4 victory over Cambridge on Wednesday.

Head Coach Matt Galusi credited sophomore Brianna Hughes for her “awesome” defensive efforts.

“It was hands-down the best game she’s played,” said Coach Galusi.

Offensively, several Mustangs got past the Falcon’s defense to score. Lauren O’Connor, Ericka Silva, and Maddie Forcier had two goals each, while Alanna Viveiros, Amanda Goguen, Olivia Timmons, and Hughes each scored one goal.

The victory comes on the heels of a tough 8-7 loss to Central Catholic on Tuesday, in which the winning goal was scored within the last thirty seconds of the game.

“It was a game we should have won,” said Coach Galusi.

Midway through the season, the Mustangs are currently 2-0 in the GBL and 5-3 overall.

Medford will host Malden on Wednesday, April 28 at 4:00PM at Hormel Stadium.
