Sen. Jehlen Announces Free Long-Term Care Guide

The following announcement is from State Senator Patricia Jehlen (D-Somerville, Medford):

Senator Jehlen (D) Somerville announced the availability of a new guide to planning of long term care support. As part of the federally-funded Massachusetts campaign, the Patrick-Murray Administration is offering a free, 44-page resource guide – “Embrace Your Future.” Constituents who would like a copy of the guide may contact her office at 617-722-1578. The guide may also be viewed and downloaded from the Elder Affairs website: www.800Ageinfo.com.

The goal of this campaign is to encourage adults to plan for their future long-term care needs earlier in their lives. Eighty percent of all seniors live with one or more chronic conditions and more than sixty percent of them will require some form of long-term care support, generally not reimbursed through Medicare.

Senator Jehlen is a member of the Long Term Care Financing Advisory Committee, which has been working to find solutions to the growing and unaffordable cost, to both individuals and the state, of long term care. She said, “As a nation, a state, and as individuals, we need to do much more to plan for our futures. This is one tool all of us can use as families and individuals to make sure we can have the choices we need and want as we age.”
