Coakley Camp Conducts Poll of Likely Democratic Voters

A poll conducted by Martha Coakley’s US Senate campaign shows the Attorney General and Medford resident with a 35 point lead.

According to data released by the campaign, in a four-way race, Coakley had 47% of the vote, with US Representative Michael Capuano at 12%; Celtics owner Stephen Pagliuca at 4%; and City Year founder Alan Khazei at 1%.

Coakley led among all demographic groups and 66% of voters polled had a favorable opinion of the Attorney General, who is the only female running for Senator Ted Kennedy’s vacant seat.

Coakley became Massachusetts’ first female Attorney General in 2007 and if elected, she would be the state’s first female US Senator.

The poll was conducted from September 21-24. 800 likely voters in the Democratic primary were polled and there is a plus or minus 3.5% margin of error.
