Tufts Receives $40 Mil from MIT Grad

Gift is 2nd Multi-Million Donation to Tufts from Wealthy Tech Entrepreneur

Bharucha, Gordon

A wealthy engineer and MIT graduate who spent some time at Tufts in the ’40’s as a young naval officer has donated $40 million to Tufts’ engineering school to promote its leadership programs. Bernard Gordon, known as the father of analog-to-digital conversion and for breakthroughs such as the fetal heart monitor and portable CT scan, also donated $35 million to the university in the past, including for the Gordon Institute, School of Engineering, and Sophia Gordon Hall. His donation brought Tufts’ “Beyond Boundaries” fundraising campaign over the $1 billion mark.
