Medford Maniacs 12-0, Remain Undefeated

The 14U Medford Maniacs Softball Team brings its undefeated record to perfect 12-0 by beating the Melrose Red Raiders 10-6. Sarah Neal pitched the entire game, giving up 2 walks and striking out 6 over 7 innings.

The defense gave up only one error and benefited by strong defensive plays made by Emily Dietrich and Devon Vendetti at 3rd, Allison Caloggero at shortstop and a diving catch by Christine Feeley in left center. Dietrich and Vendetti tossed out 5 runners at 1st and Caloggero led a double play in top of the 6th with runners on first and second to end the inning. Alison Bingham and Kaitlyn Feeney also rounded out the defense at 2nd.

Breanna Botelho hit a double in the bottom of the 6th with the bases loaded, bringing Christina Lynch and Laurie Allien home. Neal also contributed offensively with a follow-up double in the 6th, scoring Rayann Staude and Botelho to add to Medford’s lead. Sarah Liberty and Susan Smith also assisted in the offensive effort.

The team closes their regular season this week.  They head to Reading to face the Reading Rascals in Reading on Monday, August 3 and take on hometown rivals the Medford Blue Devils on Wednesday, August 5 at Columbus Park in Medford at 7:45PM.

The Medford Maniacs include Sarah Neal, Rayann Staude, Christina Lynch, Emily Dietrich, Breanna Botelho, Sarah Liberty, Christine Feeley, Alison Bingham, Laurie Allien, Devon Vendetti, Allison Caloggero, Susan Smith, and Kaitlyn Feeney. The team is coached by Jeff Neal, Len Dietrich, Billy Lynch, and Paul Liberty.
