Teams Earn 1st Place in Medford Youth Softball League

Medford Youth Girls Softball (MYGS) completes its 2009 season and congratulates the major league champion Wildcats and the minor league champion Marlins on their winning seasons.

The major league Wildcats entered the playoffs with a record of 12 wins 4 loses to capture a first place finish. The Wildcats won the championship game with a score of 11 to 6 against the Phillies. The Wildcats were coached by Chris McLellan and Barry Erickson. The Wildcat players are Alison Bradley, Courtney Erickson, Alyssa McLellan, Julie Leonard, Katie Napier, Emily Patturelli, Rebecca Perna, Renee Perna, Courtney Puccio, Parthena Reisopolous, Jackie St.Germain and Olivia Torchio.

The minor league Marlins started the season off 2-3 and won their remaining 7 regular season games to capture 1st place in the Minor Leagues. They beat the Red Sox in the playoffs to move on to the Championship Game, where they beat the Angels to win the Championship. The Marlins were coached by Chris Coleman and Len Dietrich. The Marlins players are: Jocelyn McCarthy, Tess Regan, Ali Summers, Colleen McGlynn, Grace Owens, Jackie McLaughlin, Rebecca DeTucci, Katie Cordero, Talia Matarazzo, Danielle DelTorto, Kayla Cummings, Gillian Drane, and Christina Coleman.
