Carl Cincotti and Bob Skerry are co-chairs of this event. Lino and Audrey Avellani of Lino and Audrey’s Restaurant are the “chefs of the day”. A special feature this year will be Mickey Mouse pancakes for the children made and served by Gina Avellani. All are welcome to come and enjoy this wonderful breakfast!

Following the breakfast, the city’s celebration will begin at 10AM at City Hall. At 10:30AM it’s onto the Old Burial Ground on Salem Street, and Paul Revere is expected to make a special appearance at 11AM outside of Gaffey Funeral Home, 43 High Street.

“Patriot’s Day will begin with the raising of the American Flag and the POW Flag. We are honored to have with us Corporal Ming Hoang, United States Marine Corps, a Medford native who has served two tours of duty in Iraq and a Medford native who will serve as our Master of Ceremonies. Also participating will be the Medford High School Band and the 1st New Hampshire Regiment. Jasmine Etesse, a sophomore at Medford High School, will sing both the National Anthem and God Bless America, while Audrey Farenga, a junior student at Medford High School will recite the poem, the Concord Hymn. Following this ceremony, we will move to the Old Burying Ground in Medford Square where students from the Andrews Middle School will lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance, the Reverend Hank Peirce of the Unitarian Universalist Church will deliver a prayer and Governor Deval Patrick’s Patriot’s Day Proclamation will be read. In addition, the Medford High School will perform musical selections. We will end with Taps accompanied by a salute from the American Legion, Post 45 Honor Guard and 1st New Hampshire Regiment. Immediately following, we will move to Gaffey Funeral Home, 43 High Street, where we will await the arrival of Paul Revere. All are welcome,” said Mayor Michael McGlynn.
