The new Members Plus Credit Union in Medford SquareEvents to Take Place October 14-October 18

Medford Square’s newest bank, Members Plus Credit Union, will hold its opening celebration this week.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday morning at 9AM will kick off the week’s events, which will include refreshments, daily gas gard giveaways, and three grand prize giveaways for a GPS system, a Nintendo Wii, and a flat panel television.

“We are very excited about our new state-of-the-art location and look forward to becoming an integral part of the Medford Community,” said Credit Union CEO Thomas J. Kenny in a statement.

The bank, founded in 1940, has over $200 million in assets and has five branch locations in the Greater Boston area.

The bank left its South Street location in Somerville and opened September 15 in the building previously occupied by Citizens Bank at 29 High Street in Medford Square.

At left, a group of people waiting for the bus pose for a picture in front of the bank’s new home, which will include a ramp for wheelchair accessibility for the first time in the building’s eighty year history.
