The Varsity Boys Soccer team went on the road Thursday against Dracut and Friday against Malden and came back with wins, improving their record to 8-4-1.  The Mustang offense and defense dominated the field throughout the Dracut game, handing Medford its second shutout victory over Dracut.  Medford demonstrated excellent control and teamwork during the game.  Marcello Cugno fended off Dracut at the net and senior Deston Pierrot scored Medford’s one goal.

The last time Medford faced Malden the teams came to a tie. This time, the Mustang defense held the Tornadoes at bay the entire game, with Cugno guarding the net, and a relentless offensive effort netted four goals for Medford. Goals were scored by Matt Diamond-Jones, captain Brett Cavallaro, Ariel Lobo, and David Pires.

The boys face Everett at home on Tuesday afternoon before finishing up the regular season with a three-day Greater Boston League tournament next weekend. The Mustangs have secured themselves a spot in the state tournament, no matter what happens in the next four games, as the team needs to win at least half of its regular season games to qualify.
