Beach Dedicated in Late Senator’s Honor

Sandy Beach Named for Charles Shannon

Sandy Beach has been renamed in honor of the Senator Charles E. Shannon, Jr., Memorial Beach.

The family of late state senator Charles Shannon, a Winchester Democrat who represented both Medford and Winchester, joined friends and colleagues of Shannon in a special dedication ceremony on Saturday morning at Sandy Beach. Department of Conservation Richard K. Sullivan, Jr., presided over the ceremony.

State Representative Paul Casey of Winchester, State Representative Paul Donato of Medford, both colleagues of Shannon, and State Senator Pat Jehlen of Somerville, who holds Shannon’s former seat, will took part in the ceremony, among other local officials.
