The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Medford and much of New England from 5PM Tuesday to 9AM Wednesday.

Snow is expected to begin falling during rush hour Tuesday and will continue to get heavier until mixing with sleet and freezing rain between 1AM and 3AM. The heaviest snow will fall in the late evening and could fall as much as an inch per hour. Medford could see 2-4 inches of snow by early Wednesday morning.

The snow and sleet is predicted to change over to rain between 5AM and 9AM, creating slippery conditions for driving and walking.

A Flood Watch has also been issued for the area, as heavy rain is expected from the mid-morning throughout the afternoon on Wednesday. The flood watch is especially for urban and poor drainage areas and will remain in effect through Thursday afternoon.

As much as 1 to 2.5 inches of rain could fall by Wednesday afternoon. Runoff from the rain fall and snow melt could mean flooding problems for urban and poor drainage areas, slush-covered storm drains, and underpasses.
