200 Attend Mustang Football Banquet

Team Says Good-bye to Nineteen Seniors; Agostino Team MVP

Two hundred players, coaches, cheerleaders, invited quests and parents packed into the Irish American Hall on Sunday, January 13th, to say good-bye to 19 senior football players and present individual awards to members of the Medford Mustang Football Team. Graduating seniors Mike Agostino, Bill Stearns, Vinny Albano, Ian Finn, Jim King, John Costello, Ben Waldrip, Jamil Santos, Marco Santoro, John Feeley, Rob Sullivan, Joel Alcide, Brandon Denis, Steve Murphy, Noah Smith, Loring Greene, Vinny Fusco, Juladeau Tylesse and AJ Rossetti received a team plaque, hooded sweatshirts and jackets.

City Councillor Bob Maiocco, who is member of the Football Alumni Scholarship Committee and a former Mustang Football Captain, presented on behalf of the Medford Football Alumni players and coaches a $500 scholarship award to Senior Defensive End and Tightend Ian Finn and a David Castagnett $500 Scholarship Award to Senior Defensive End and Offensive Tackle Ben Waldrip.

Ben Averbook, Director of Medford Saving Lives, presented Medford Saving Lives Community Service Certificates to Senior Jim King, Senior Bill Stearns, Senior Ian Finn, Senior Mike Agostino, Junior John Sousa and Freshman Alec Finn.

Individual Awards were presented by Head Coach Jim Atkins and Assistant Head Coach Jon Wilson:

In attendance were City Councillor Bob Maiocco, School Committee Members Lena DiGiantommasso, Ann Marie Cugno and Paulette Van der Kloot, Headmaster Dr. Paul Krueger, Submaster Steve Mascoll, Reggie Graham of the Mustang Hall of Fame, Joe Barletta of Mission Trophy, Scott Cutler of the Rotary Club, Jim Petroni of the Kiwanis Club, Jim King of Senior Football Associates and Ben Averbook of Medford Saving Lives.

Buffet Italian-style dinner was served along with a Mustang cake for dessert. The event was moderated by Ed Finn, Dave McCort and Head Coach Jim Atkins and put together by the parents of the Medford Senior Football Association.

John Sousa and Anthony Falco were announced as captains for the 2008 season. Pictures were taken by Dom Pino and the event was videotaped by the students of Medford High School Media and Technology Department for MHSTV-15.
