City Declares Snow Emergency as of 4PM

Snow accumulated quickly this afternoon on Dudley Street in Medford. The National Weather Service is calling for 1-2 inches per hour, for a total accumulation of between 6 and 12 inches.

Medford has declared a snow emergency as of 4PM today. That means no parking on main streets and odd/even parking is in effect for side streets.

The National Weather Service has issued a heavy snow warning for Medford and the rest of the state until 11PM. The NWS is calling for 6-12 inches of snow, with a snow fall rate of 1-2 inches per hour.

The heaviest snow is expected during commute time and should taper off between 6PM and 9PM.

Snow began to fall early this afternoon in most areas and visibility has already fallen to as low as a quarter mile in some parts of the state.

The NWS issues heavy snow warnings when 6 or more inches of snow is expected in a 12 hour period or for 8 or more inches of snow in a 24 hour period.
