Not Your Average Joe’s Reports Security Breach

Customer Credit Card Information Stolen

– Allison Goldsberry

In a statement posted on its website, restaurant chain Not Your Average Joe’s, which has a Medford location, reported that credit card data from its customers has been stolen.

According to the statement, less than 1% of the chain’s customers have been affected, about 3,500 people. The breach occurred in August and September, and the restaurant says no fraudulent activity has been reported since September 29.

In its statement the chain says the only information that could have been stolen would be the credit card number, expiration date, and name associated with the card. It urges customers that notice any fraudulent charges to contact their credit card companies.

Not Your Average Joe’s is currently working with an external forensic investigator to determine the cause of the breach. It is not believed an employee was involved.

The chain says, currently, its credit card transactions are secure and it has no reason to believe a security breach should happen again.
