Public Meeting Wednesday for Condon Band Shell Future

Medford’s Condon Shell

A band sets up inside Medford’s Condon Shell during the Chamber’s Duck Race festivities on September 8, 2007.

The City will hold a public meeting tonight at 6:30PM at City Hall to discuss the future of the Condon Band Shell.

Medford recently received $700,000 from the federal government to conduct a study to determine if the shell should be renovated or replaced.  The study is being conducted by landscape architecture firm Crosby Schlessinger Smallridge and tonight the firm will share its insights with the public.

The city recently took control of the land along the river where the shell sits from the state and wants to create more enticing green space that ties the river into the Square.

The shell is part of larger plans to revitalize Medford Square in conjunction with promoting activities and events along the Mystic River.

What’s Happened at the Condon Shell Lately?

The Chamber of Commerce held Medford’s first-ever duck race in September.

The shell served as a backdrop for a Fox 25 Zip Trip in May.
