Candidate for School Committee- Bruce Kulik

Bruce Kulik

School Committee candidate Bruce Kulik, in his own words:

As a parent with two children enrolled in the Medford Public schools, an active member of the citywide parent teacher organization, and a concerned citizen, I believe I have a major stake in the performance of our city’s schools.

During the past several years, I have attended almost every general school committee meeting, I regularly speak with administrators, members of the school committee, and parents to discuss important school issues.  Here are some of the concerns:

– Children being held back because of “teaching to the middle.”
– Problems with access to special education programs.
– Some teachers making life unnecessarily difficult for students.
– Behavior on the buses and bullying continue to be a problem.
– Insufficient art and music instruction.
– Disparity amongst the four elementary schools.

We need aggressive, involved and committed leadership on the school committee to address these problems.

I have chosen to run for school committee because I believe I have proven my leadership skills and commitment to Medford’s public schools.  I have a strong awareness of the issues that face our students, our teachers, and our schools.  I have the business and managerial experience needed to be effective.  And, I will push for a climate of excellence for all our students.
